Abstract:

The performance of an Imidazoline based commercial corrosion inhibitor on CO2 corrosion of mild steel was investigated in a Cl- containing solution employing linear polarization resistance (LPR), potentiodynamic polarization and monitoring corrosion potential techniques. Experimental results showed that an increase of the commercial inhibitor concentration up to 500 ppm increases the RP value and produces an efficiency of 90 percent. The increase of a test solution temperature at 60°C caused an increase on RP value compared to RP measured at room temperature this suggests adsorption of the inhibitor is promoted by temperature. Plot of c/θ versus inhibitor concentration (c) using different methods showed a straight line with a slope very close to unity, indicating that adsorption of the investigated commercial inhibitor on steel/saturated CO2 solution obeys the Lungmuir adsorption isotherm.

AN INVESTIGATION ON THE PERFORMANCE OF AN IMIDAZOLINE BASED COMMERCIAL CORROSION INHIBITOR ON CO2 CORROSION OF GAS-WELL TUBING STEEL BY EIS TECHNIQUE

Abstract: The performance of an Imidazoline based commercial corrosion inhibitor in CO2 corrosion of a gas-well tubing steel was studied by employing Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) technique. Inhibitor performance was investigated by means of its efficiency at various concentration and also its behavior at various exposure time. EIS results showed that inhibitor interaction to...

an investigation of the impact of self monitoring on langauge teachers motivational practice and its effect on learners motivation

the central purpose of this study was to conduct a case study about the role of self monitoring in teacher’s use of motivational strategies. furthermore it focused on how these strategies affected students’ motivational behavior. although many studies have been done to investigate teachers’ motivational strategies use (cheng & d?rnyei, 2007; d?rnyei & csizer, 1998; green, 2001, guilloteaux & d?...

Solanum Tuberosum as an Inhibitor of Mild Steel Corrosion in Acid Media

Acid extract of Solanum tuberosum was tested as corrosion inhibitor for mild steel in 1 M HCl and H2SO4 media using different techniques: Weight loss (in different temperatures viz., 303, 313 and 323 K), Potentiodynamic polarization, Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) and SEM techniques. The studies reveal that the plant extract act as good inhibitors in both...

INVESTIGATION INTO SYNERGISTIC EFFECT OF MOLYBDATE AND PHOSPHATE AS AN INHIBITOR FOR MILD STEEL CORROSION PREVENTION IN SIMULATED COOLING WATER

The synergistic behavior of molybdate and phosphate ions in mitigating the corrosion of mild steel in simulated cooling water was evaluated performing potentiodynamic polarization and impedance spectroscopy tests. Phosphate and molybdate showed a synergistic effect on corrosion inhibition of steel in simulated cooling water. The observed reduction in anodic and cathodic current densities could ...

Electrochemical Study on Newly Synthesized Chlorocurcumin as an Inhibitor for Mild Steel Corrosion in Hydrochloric Acid

A new curcumin derivative, i.e., (1E,4Z,6E)-5-chloro-1,7-bis(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)hepta-1,4,6-trien-3-one (chlorocurcumin), was prepared starting with the natural compound curcumin. The newly synthesized compound was characterized by elemental analysis and spectral studies (IR, ¹H-NMR and 13C-NMR). The corrosion inhibition of mild steel in 1 M HCl by chlorocurcumin has been studied using p...
